Michael was born to the late Michael J. Lucas, Sr. and Irene Lucas on July 24, 1951, in Manhattan, New York. On November 18, 1972, Michael married the love of his life, Sherry May Lucas (Stapp). They were and remain bound together in love and marriage. “Each unto the other - and both unto God.” Michael’s heart for serving the Lord was his life’s passion and all that knew him or who were touched by him couldn’t help but feel the love of Jesus. Michael was a man of belief, conviction, principle, and integrity.
Michael leaves behind a legacy of a loving family. His wife, children and grandchildren were forever touched by his selfless involvement in all of their lives. He loved his family with all of his heart and made sure they knew it.
In addition to his loving wife Sherry, Michael is survived by: his son Jason M. Lucas, wife Candace Lucas, and grandchildren Jackson (11) and Laila (9), of Placida, Florida; daughter Rachel C. Chong-You (Lucas), her husband Nigel Chong-You, and their children Mia (10), Cole (9), Aria (6), and Asher (2), of Gainesville, Florida; his sister Helen Lucas of Ballston Spa, NY; his sister Joan Alessi and husband Chris Alessi of Castleton, VT; and his brother Richard Lucas, of Brandon, FL.
A 6:00 p.m. viewing and 6:30 p.m. service will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Lighthouse Fellowship Church, 269 SW 2nd Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33991, to celebrate Michael’s life. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Coral Ridge Cemetery, 1630 SW Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, FL 33991.
