Pamela Spitz Jensen died peacefully at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL on January 10, 2025, after a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband and partner of 33 years, William “Bill” Jurek, and her children Edward Jensen (Elizabeth), Melissa Thompson (nee Spitz), and Laura Jensen (nee Smith). Pam adored her grandchildren Robert Jensen and his wife Rachael, Connor Jensen, Bridget Jensen, Nico Thompson, and Kira Thompson. She had a close friendship and sisterly relationship with her niece Leni Smith of Coconut Creek, FL. Pam was a matriarch to her niece, nephew, and many cousins who reside in Chicago and Arizona, in particular David Slack and Phillip Mitchell. She was pre-deceased by a number of relatives, including her parents Robert and Vivian, her sister Roberta, her aunts Mae and Leila, and several cousins.
Pam was born and spent her early years in Chicago, Illinois, a city that she loved and visited often. She graduated from Mumford High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1961. Pam was an active member of synagogues in the Detroit area as well as in Cape Coral. She was a dedicated volunteer at her children’s schools and in non- profit organizations based upon Jewish values, including ORT and Hadassah. Pam moved with her family to Southwest Florida in 1979 where she became a business owner and continued to be involved with community organizations through networking and volunteering. After the death of her sister and her father, Pam operated Decorator’s Service in Cape Coral which was the family’s business. At the company’s height, Pam employed over one hundred people locally and served customers throughout the state of Florida. When that business closed, Pam took the opportunity to reinvent herself. She established Home Team Inspection Service in Fort Myers with Bill, and they became deeply involved in the real estate industry. As affiliate members, Pam and Bill were often called upon to organize and facilitate networking and volunteering events. Pam took on leadership roles within the Women’s Council of Realtors, Royal Palm Coast Realtor Association, and Bonita Springs Estero Association of Realtors. She was well known for her ability to connect with people and for being “little but mighty” due to her short stature and her larger than life personality. Pam and Bill owned Home Team Inspection Service for 30 years and recently retired in 2023. Even in retirement, Pam was an entrepreneur. She launched a jewelry design business called “Not Your Grandmother’s Pearls” and was creatively inspired to craft unique pieces of semi- precious jewelry. In her free time, Pam tended to an impressive garden at her home. She was a dog lover who always had at least one canine companion, currently her beloved Shih Tzu named Ginger. Pam was a world traveler who believed that it was invaluable to experience other cultures. Her art collection and talents as an interior decorator were remarkable. She loved her family, her friends, and her community.
A memorial service will be held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Blvd S. in Cape Coral, on Friday, January 17th at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Pam’s name to your favorite charitable organization.
