It is hard to find the words to say that Phil is gone. He was one of those people who left a lasting mark on everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by so many.
Phil loved his family and friends fiercely. He cared deeply, protected the people he loved, showed up when it mattered, and would do just about anything for the people he considered his own. Beneath his teasing and joking was a man with an enormous heart and an incredible capacity to love.
Those who knew Phil also knew his unmistakable “big brother” personality. He loved to tease, give people a hard time, offer his opinion whether it was requested or not, and somehow make everyone laugh in the process. His pranks were legendary, and if Phil liked you, there was a very good chance you had been on the receiving end of at least one of them.
Phil was extremely proud to be a Master Electrician. Over the years, he trained and mentored many people in the electrical trade, generously sharing his knowledge, experience, and strong work ethic. While electrical work was his profession, Phil truly loved all aspects of construction and renovation. He was happiest when he was building, fixing, remodeling, or finding a way to make something better.
As proud as he was of the work he completed, the relationships he formed along the way meant even more to him. Coworkers, customers, tradespeople, friends, and acquaintances often became much more than that to Phil. He valued people, conversation, laughter, and the friendships that grew out of working side by side.
When Phil was not working on a project, he loved spending time on the road and near the mountains. Some of his happiest moments were spent traveling in the RV, exploring new places, and cruising along the coast on the motorcycle. He loved the freedom of the open road and, most of all, sharing those adventures with the people he loved.
Phil is survived by his beloved spouse of 17 years, Krista Pozaic, with whom he shared a life filled with love, adventure, laughter, family, and countless cherished memories.
He was a devoted father to Grace Horner and a proud father-in-law to Andrew Brotzner. He was also a loving stepfather to Jake “Alexis” Pozaic and Riley Pozaic, and father-in-law to Ashlyn Knight. To Phil, family was never defined simply by titles or biology - when he loved you, you were his family, and he loved with his whole heart.
Phil is also survived by his mother, Lenore Horner; his brother, Steven, and his wife, Lenore Horner; his sister, Wendi, and her husband, Derek Cochrane; and his sister, Nancy, and her husband, Richard Mino.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Gloria Clark; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Karen and Mark Norris, Wendy Cameron, and Karolyn and Jason Soltis; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Phil was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lauren Horner; his father, Edwin Horner; and his brother-in-law, Jim Clark.
There will be countless stories told about Phil in the days, months, and years ahead — stories that will make us laugh, shake our heads, and undoubtedly cry. We hope those stories continue to be shared, because each one keeps a part of Phil with us.
Phil was loved more than he could ever know. His absence leaves a tremendous hole in the lives of his family and friends, and life will never quite be the same without him.
He fought so hard, and now he can rest in the arms of Jesus.
Until we see each other again, you will remain forever loved, forever missed, and forever a part of us.
The family is deeply grateful for the love, support, and prayers being offered during this incredibly difficult time and asks that you continue to keep them in your prayers in the days ahead.
