Robert J. DeHanes Jr, Age 56, Passed away on Friday, January 11th, 2019 at Cape Coral Hospital, in Florida. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ on Dec 8th,1962 to the parents Robert and Clementine Paloti-DeHanes. Robert spent his earlier years growing up in the Budapest section of Perth Amboy, and where he infamously earned the nickname “Sasquatch” otherwise referred to as “Big Foot” (by a childhood friend Csaba which eventually shortened to “Foot”) and by which many will remember him by today. Robert graduated from PAHS in 1980 and went on to further his education at DeVry University. His passion for mechanics, cars, trains, and model building led him to a unique career in model making and as a “Master Model Builder” for family operated businesses. Robert’s love for life, his everlasting smile and laughter always made it a joy to have him around. Once you met him, he always left his “Foot” print with everyone he touched. He eventually moved to Bandera/Lakehills, Texas where he found his happy place living freely. He became an avid chef who always shared his wonderful, mouthwatering creations and recipes with family & friends in his community, as well as his networks, with Smoked BBQ recipes at the top of his list.
Robert was the proud father to his one and only daughter Danielle DeHanes, and grandfather of two beautiful grandchildren Liberty (age 6) and Major (age 1-1/2) who reside in Arkansas, and who held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his brother Richard DeHanes, his wife Donna and daughter Ava Francesca along his sister Randi DeHanes-Malinousky, her husband Tom and son Nicholas, Uncles Kenneth and John DeHanes.
A Memorial service will be announced in the near future, as Robert’s wish to be cremated will be carried out this week through Dignity Memorial Services under the care of Coral Ridge Funeral Home, Cape Coral, Florida. His obituary and memorial service updates will be posted at www.coralridgefuneralhome.com, the local newspapers, and his Facebook page which will remain active as a memorial to his life.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Robert’s memory to either of these two reputable charities in his honor, continuing the fight against heart disease and diabetes.
