Robert J. Santos

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Santos, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Robert passed away on August 29, 2026, at the age of 85 in Cape Coral Florida. Born on September 24, 1940, in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the cherished son of the late Frederico Santos and Beatrice Viera. He was also predeceased by his brother, Fred Santos.

Robert lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service. He graduated from East Providence High School in 1958, soon after, he embarked on a journey with the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served his country with honor. He attained the rank of corporal and was recognized for his exemplary service with the Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

On November 9, 1968, Robert married the love of his life, Margaret Mary McDade, in a beautiful ceremony at St Teresa's Parish in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Together, they spent almost 58 wonderful years building a life and family filled with love and laughter. Robert was a devoted father to his daughters, Sharon and Christine, and a proud grandfather to Jacob and Rachel.

Professionally, Robert was a dedicated employee of the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked diligently as a letter carrier in Central Falls, Rhode Island, until his retirement in 1997. His friendly demeanor and reliability made him a favorite in the community he served.

In his retirement, Robert continued to serve, volunteering at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Deltona, Florida, where he was an active and respected member. He found joy in woodworking and spent many happy hours tending to projects around his home and garden. Known for his love of dogs, Robert always had a pocketful of milk bones ready for his canine friends, a testament to his caring and gentle nature.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; his daughters, Sharon and Christine; his niece Melissa; his grandchildren, Jacob and Rachel; and his siblings, Evelyn, Ronald, Dennis, and Patricia. As well as many other nieces & nephews and extended family members.

Robert's warmth, humor, and steadfast dedication to those he loved will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life will be celebrated in a future private family service, where his memory will be honored with love and gratitude.
