Ron started out teaching Math and Science for several years and that led to teaching Physical Education at Coventry High School for 34 years. Ron was the Athletic Director and coached golf, cross country, for a few years but his true passion for basketball took over and he coached Men’s Varsity Basketball for 28 years finishing with a record of 383-230. Ron, also known as Coach B, coached his team to win the Connecticut Class S State Championship Game in 1989 and was the recipient of Connecticut’s Coach of the Year Award in 1992. One of his favorite sayings was “A winner never quits, and quitter never wins”. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved all sports.
In his retirement years, Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, fishing, golfing and the casino. Ron & Etta enjoyed time spent with their grandchildren boating around Gardner Lake on their pontoon boat. Ron never forgot the players and students he influenced, and they never forgot him.
