

Roy graduated from North Catholic High School in Troy Hill in 1949. He began his electrician apprentice training that same year. In 1952 he married Margaret Murphy to whom he was married for 66 years prior to her passing. He was drafted into the Army later in 1952 and fought in the Korean War in the 2nd Infantry, 3rd Armored Division, Company A, 72nd Tank Battalion, receiving two bronze stars and reaching the rank of Sargent. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Roy was a hard worker, an excellent mechanic and highly skilled in anything construction related. He owned his own electrical contracting company and later worked as foreman on many commercial projects. He was a member of IBEW Local 5 for over 65 years. He personally built both houses he lived in prior to moving to FL. He loved hunting, fishing and golfing, including a hunting trip to the Yukon, bringing back a grizzly bear rug to PA.
Roy was preceded in death by his mother, father and wife, along with several uncles. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Misner (John), Tom Nist (Nadine), Kathleen Price (Jon) and three grandchildren, Chelsea Nist, Brian Misner and Jessie Trudeau.
A private family funeral mass will be held on January 10 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goose Creek SC. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at St Therese Catholic Church in N. Fort Myers FL. Roy will be interred beside his wife at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
