Sam served in the military during the Korean War. He later became a police officer and retired as Chief of Police in Hanover Park (a suburb of Chicago). After his first retirement and a move to Cape Coral, FL, he started a stone mason company where he worked with members of the family. After his second retirement and a move to Georgia, he worked at Publix with his beloved wife where he had many laughs and made many lasting friendships. During his life, Sam enjoyed things like bowling, making homemade pizza, wine & martinis….but most of all, he enjoyed his family…and wine.
The sweetest of love stories, Sam is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Violet Katherine Polotto. Sam was a cherished father to Janice Polotto-Ryan, Sam Polotto, and Christine Polotto-Wenzel. He was an adored grandfather to Joe Polotto, Jennifer Polotto-Burr, David Ryan, Tiffany Wenzel-Michael, Samantha Wenzel-Press, Matthew Ryan, and Kelly Wenzel-Torres. He was also a darling great-grandfather to Kenzi Polotto, Austin Burr, Taylor Polotto, Zachary Burr, Hunter Press, Gianna Torres, Levi Michael, Logan Michael, Luke Michael, Isabella Torres, Vincent Torres, Emmanuel Torres, Giovanni Torres, and Gavin Press. And Sam, was a dear friend to everyone.
Sam was preceded in death by his father Anthony Polotto, mother Christine Polotto, brother Anthony (Jr.) Polotto, sister Mary Polotto-Amatore and great grandson Emmanuel Torres.
A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on November 15th and funeral services will be on November 16th at 10am. Both will be at the Coral Ridge Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in the name of Sam Polotto to the Hope Hospice.
