I worked at Holiday Park Recreation and Wellness Center where Sara was a member and a very dedicated water aerobics student. She was always so nice to me and had a smile and a nice word for everyone. Sara had a lot of friends at the club and I know we were very sad when she moved away. I hope she kept in contact with some of her old buddies back here in Perrysburg. She was a lovely person and will be missed greatly.

So sorry to hear of Sara's passing, our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

I can only imagine how you feel right now. I'm so sorry she had to suffer for so long. I do believe she is finally at peace. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

    I am so sorry for your loss. This is surely a difficult time for you. 
    Kay called to tell me of Sara's passing. I then read the obituary in the Blade and learned that Sara and Don shared the same birthday, April 7th.
    I know that Sara will be surely missed by her family and friends.

As you know, Sara was like a sister to Jane. I don't know of anyone that has been more of a kindred spirit to Jane than her. The times we spent in North Webster with the two of you will always be in our memories as great times. We used to look forward to spending weekends with the two of you playing cards, eating together and riding around the lake in your boat. Sara was someone that we both expected to spend the rest of our lives with, but life doesn't always turn out the way we hope. She will be greatly missed, but we don't plan on missing you. I hope we can always stay in touch, and I hope that we can be helpful to you in this difficult time.

Dear Gene, 
Your pictures capture Sara's grace and joy in simple -- and some special -- moments.  My strongest images of my Cousin Sara are at Lake Webster, of course.  I remember her as an elegant, stylish teenager who was opinionated, yet lovable at the same time.  I also remember how she excelled at waterskiing -- and how she seemed to enjoy Grandpa Charlie's fried fish at nightly barbecues at the lake.  Sara was unique -- and determined to be so; I admired her for her strength, beauty and ability to handle new situations with ease.  She was unforgettable and made the world a better place.

     I did not have the pleasure of knowing Sara, however, from what I've been told, she was excited to find a local Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter. Unfortunately she was not able to attend our luncheon meetings due to her illness.

  When we bought the cottage from you and Sara, we gained so much more than a summer respite for our family. Little did we know that day when we all sat in that crammed office of the "General" in Syracuse, that our lives would be thrown together in such a way. More than that cute little cottage with the white picket fence, which was no doubt such a source of joy for the extended Burson clan,we acquired dear, dear friends. I recall many dinners, and boat ride and chats over the roses. You and John chatted about the economy and skiing vs, kneeboarding and surfing, while Sara and I exchanged books and articles via Sierra Club and the latest environmental publications, but more about hiding the treasures she was out collecting from garage sales: we both adored our "treasures". I will never forget when you watched Molly and the twins ( I think they were here?) and Molly tossed Lambie up onto the lamp for a good roasting.... my sides ache with laughter right now writing this. And that picnic that last summer out on your boat. It was heavenly! Sara's pure spirit, her dry sense of humor, and her love of Webster, and stories of childhood summers spent upon the lake: all of these have enriched our lives. I promise you this Gene, every single time I tool around the lake since you made the wise decision to move to Florida, I think of Sara giving me her tour of what used to be on the lake... the cabins that remain that were there during her summers, the happiness that beckoned her back there. I will continue to do so.
Thank you for that, dear Sara. You were a gift.

Gene, Sara was to me that gentle, graceful neighbor.  She would stroll by my home and we would share stories of our cats, her Webster and my Blackie.  Sara called my Blackie, "Hisblackness" as he was royal, (still is).  Sara gave me a pin of a 19 cent postage stamp showing a black cat next to a lily bloom. Gene,  Thank-you for keeping me updated about Sara the entire time she was ill.  She and I were friends from the moment we met at a meeting at Zoar Lutheran not long after we moved to Perrysburg 16 years ago. Sara always loved to talk about the day that she and I skipped school in the eleventh grade to go downtown Toledo and see John F. Kennedy give a campaign speech in front of the Lucas County courthouse.  When we arrived at the scene, there were thousands of people already there --some of them had climbed up on the statue of McKinley to be able to see.  Sara was dismayed, but I took her by the hand up to the  very front where we saw an area that had been roped off for dignitaries and that held wooden folding chairs.  A policeman was guarding the entry; so I marched up to him with Sara in tow, and said, "PRESS," in a very official manner.  He opened the rope and waved us in!  We sat in the front row and had the best view of JFK.  We both immediately fell in love with him.  I shall never forget Sara  --  my classmate, my partner in maternity (Chad and Amy were due the same day), and my friend forever.

Dear Gene,
   My deepest sympathy on the loss of Sara. I know the love and care you gave her was a comfort. Although I did not know her well I always enjoyed talking with her when I was servicing your pool. She was comical once when you were not there. She was having trouble with the tv remote. It took me 10 minutes to get it all working normal again. She just kept thanking me.It was a funny moment that I will never forget. It was a pleasure to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Gene and Chad,

It is with great sadness that we hear of Sara's passing.  She was a dear friend for many years while we lived in Maumee.  We will never forget her wonderful laugh, her mischieviousness, her beautiful smile, her great sense of humor.
