Susan J. Fano, age 78, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, in Fort Myers, Florida. Susan was born September 19, 1943, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She graduated from Union Hill High School and she worked for American Carbide as a lab technician before pursuing a career in jewelry.
Susan enjoyed Elvis Presely music and parafanial and was a big Betty Boop fan. She enjoyed cars from the 50's and 60's, with a 1958 Chevy Impala topping the list. When she became a grandmother, she devoted most of her energy to babysitting her grandchildren; She put her life on hold five days a week to help take care of them so that their mom could help run the family business. She always looked forward to our vacations to many places throughout the years with the many friends we made in the course of life.
Her life took a hard turn when she contracted an autoimmune disease that stopped most of her mobility. She fought back and managed to get about 75% of her ability back. Susan and her husband relocated to Florida so she could be more mobile with the warmer weather, but she missed her home in North Jersey, which they had renovated and had planned to spend our final years in. I am sure we will all miss her presence and pray that the rewards of life will carry her into the afterlife.
Susan is survived by her husband, Robert D. Fano; her daughter Denise Fano; her daughter Michele Fano; her sister Donna Velten; and her grandchildren Alan Pankiewtz, Ryan Pankiewtz, and Leanna Pankiewtz.
A visitation for Susan will be held Friday, February 4, 2022, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a 2:00 pm funeral service at Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33991.
