Virginia Ellen Stanzione was born on July 17, 1933 to her parents Dante and Helen Stanzione in The Bronx, NY. She grew up as the oldest sibling to five brothers and sisters, Daniel Stanzione, Robert Stanzione, Suzan Stanzione, Thomas Stanzione, and James Stanzione. As a young adult she attended and graduated from Cathedral High School.
After high school she remained in The Bronx where she began working in the insurance field, eventually attracting the attention of a young Marine and NYPD officer, Ralph Buonocore. Virginia and Ralph were married on July 4, 1954 in The Bronx NY. There they started a family and eventually became parents to four sons, Guy, Ralph Jr., Gerald, and Daniel.
The family later moved to Valley Cottage, NY where Virginia started her own insurance company. Eventually she and her husband retired to Ft. Myers, FL where the two relaxed and enjoyed the warm Florida climate, starting the migration of most of their family to Southwest Florida. After Ralph’s passing in 2004, Virginia remained in Southwest Florida where she enjoyed the constant company of many of her eight grandchildren.
Virginia passed on Sunday May 28, 2017 in Cape Coral, FL. She was 83 years of age and is survived by her four sons, two daughters-in-law, and eight grandchildren. She was small in stature but had an oversized love for her family and dessert. She will be missed and remembered dearly.
Arrangements under the direction of Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery, Cape Coral, FL.
