Ward A. Huey passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family on Friday, July 14, 2023, three weeks shy of his 103rd birthday. He was born on August 5, 1920, in Seward, Pennsylvania, to Merle W. Huey and Elise Bouch.
He served honorably in the United States Army and the Merchant Marines. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10127.
Ward enjoyed woodworking, making many beautiful pieces in his home. He participated in an archeological dig in Guatemala and was an inventor. He was also an entrepreneur, starting H and H Auto Parts store with his son in Vernon, New Jersey, in 1973. H and H Auto Parts celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Elise, his sister Mildred, his first wife, Eleanor, and his son Ward.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 36 years, Louise, granddaughters Dawn (Thomas) Foley and Dyan (Anthony) Thompson, and great-grandchildren Devyn, Amanda, Madyson, Kyle, and MaKenna.
Ward "Pop" Huey was an inspiration to many and loved by all. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Boulevard South, Cape Coral, Florida 33991. The viewing will be from 11am-12pm followed by the memorial service.
