Troy, Kim, Aaron, and Grandsons,
I worked with your Dad in engineering at Cat in the 60's.  He and Tom Kesting were great friends.  I later started the BUNCO group that your Mom became a very big part of.  I miss her very much, and now I will do the same for your Dad.  Two of the nicest people I have ever known.  They loved all of you very much, and shared many stories over the years of your growing up, and your successes in school and life.  I'll always treasure the trip us BUNCO gals made to Cape Coral about a month before your Mom's passing.  We had such a wonderful time with her.  My heart goes out to all of you at this sad time.  I was honored to have known and called both your parents my friends.  That I will hold dear for the rest of my life.  May God comfort you in the days ahead.

Wayne Oder has been a friend of mine for many years.  I first met him  circa 1980 when we were thrown together as part of a team assembled to improve the quality of a new 3161 model Woodward speed control governor operating on a new 3500 series Caterpillar engine.  Wayne was assigned to improve engine quality from the service department end of things, while I helped maintain and implement design improvements on the governor.  We traveled to remote customer sites to define the nature of what was going wrong, and held meetings to  get needed design changes.  We were part of a larger group, but did perform the bulk of this focus.  We were successful in these efforts with the help of many other Caterpillar, and Woodward Governor Co. people.   Wayne became my friend, and taught me how to fish for the elusive big mouth bass.  Fishing was Wayne's hobby of choice.  After Wayne and Kylene moved to Florida we would visit back and forth in each others homes, and always did a little fishing in local canals and creeks.  I last fished with Wayne in April of this year, and talked with him the evening before he died.  He was upbeat, and looking forward to a continuing uneventful recovery from his spleen removal surgery.  News of his death reached me from Richard Curless in Pekin, IL.  I was shocked.  It seemed so out of place from the chat we had had just a few hours before.  Wayne's passing will leave an empty spot in my life.  I look forward to seeing him again at the end of this life.  I expect to see his warm smile as he reaches out to guide me toward Heavens golden gate.

I was saddened to read about Wayne's passing.  I grew up with Wayne in Flat River.  We often went fishing together. Wayne and Kyllene were a wonderful couple and they often stopped to visit with us here in Ohio.  Knowing Wayne, I know he is being missed.

My brother Bob Jones graduated in '62 with Wayne from Flat River High School.  He and Wayne were good friends.  He will be very saddened to learn of Wayne's passing, as am I.

Troy and Aaron...I was very sorry to hear about your Dad.  I had the priviledge of working with Wayne in the Petroleum marketing group at Caterpillar in the late 90's.  He was always in a good mood and extremely helpful to dealers and customers and to his fellow workers.  I also knew your mother, Kyllene from Cat and also from riding the bus to work during the gas crunch in the late 70's and early 80's.  She was a lovely woman.  In addition, I had the opportunity to coach Troy in the Peoria soccor league in 1982.  You were a wonderful family, and I feel honored to have known all of you.

It is hard to find the words to express our sense of loss and I can only imagine how much harder it is for you. Your parents were great neighbors, great friends and genuinely special people.  I'm sure Dick would argue who was the better fisherman..him or Wayne, but that is how it always was. Little Jay also sends his condolences...he has such strong memories of tagging behind Grandpa and Mr."O", even tho the two electrocuted him accidentally.

Your mother and father did so many nice things for me before I got married and after as well.
Your mom told me about the first house I rented when I first moved out.  Her friend Joan Kulpa was renting out her home because she had bought another house.  Your father sold your downstairs furniture to me which I used in my living room.  He also sold me the bedroom set that your parents bought when they were first married.  It was in the attic and he said I might not want it because a dog had chewed the corner of one of the night-stands.  I fixed that and that was my bedroom set.  In fact years later I would completely re-finish it and it is in our spare bed-room.  Your dad also sponsored me at Cursillo.  When I injured my back at work your mom used to bring me over meals when I was off work, the pictures brought back so many good memories of the kindness your mother and father showed me. Although I was happy when they retired and moved to Florida I sure did miss seeing them.  God Bless, Shawn Stever

I had the pleasure of working with Wayne at Caterpillar in Service Engineering for several years. He was a diligent worker who could always be counted on. He was fine man that I respected greatly and I enjoyed being around. I also knew Kyllene from time I spent in the Mining group and I was so sorry when she passed away. 

I am so sorry for your loss.

It was my pleasure to have known Wayne during our short time here in Cape Coral. He was an incredible man. We both joined the local Bass Club around the same time. I had 2 boys, one an older teenager, and a 12 year old. When both boys wanted to fish at Holiday Park I told the younger one that he would have his time when he was older. Wayne offered to take him in his boat. Andrew was thrilled and had the time of his life. Wayne even let him steer the boat, and I never heard the end of it! A truly great man who was always smiling. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Troy, Kim, Ethan, Cameron and Aaron - We are so very sorry to hear of Wayne's death...Want you to know we are praying for all of you...When your mom died, we wondered what your Dad would do without her.  He is with her again...We will cherish our many memories and gatherings with your family throughout the years.

We were so sorry to hear about your Dad.  George worked with him at CAT & fished with him.  We were able to visit with him several times in Florida.  You're in our thoughts & prayers.

 I am so very sorry to hear of your father's death. In the short time I got to know him and his generous heart for all, especially fishermen, I came to love and appreciate Wayne. I will miss his smile and his quick comments to my brothers while fishing the fresh water canals on the cape.

Troy and family-so sorry to hear of your father's death. We have such fond memories of both him and your mother from those year when you and Darren were in Cub Scouts, at WHS, and at the U of I. We always enjoyed going to the football games with them, working in the concession stands together, and the Mom's and Dad's weekends at the fraternity. Ron especially remembers the weekend of the bachelor's party for you and Darren.
