

Zoila McGlaughlin, 94, was born October 6, 1920 in Utilla, Honduras to parents José Hernandez and Maria Concepcion. Surrounded by family and friends, Zoila made her transition on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 12:03am in her home in Cape Coral, FL. Zoila married Astor Nathan McGlaughlin in 1936. The couple had 3 beautiful children Osborne, Amy and Zoila. Zoila was a housewife, mother and an exceptional seamstress who traveled to Los Angeles and Honduras visiting and helping with her grandchildren. She divided her time selflessly between her California families. Hosts of friends and will always remember Zoila affectionately called Mami or Messzollie as a caring, involved and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-grandmother. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Zoila Joan Velasquez of Cape Coral; son Astor Osborne of Utilla, Honduras, along with 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Zoila was preceded in death by her husband Astor and daughter Amy.
A viewing will be on Wednesday, May 13th from 11am – 1pm at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1630 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, FL 33991. A funeral service will begin at 1pm with interment to follow.
