Bob Hill

88, of Westfield, Indiana, departed this life at his home on Monday, May 4, 2026. Bob was born January 28, 1938 in Washington, Indiana to the late Bryan Cable & Eva (Bullard) Hill. He was a 1956 graduate of Wheatland High School where he first met his beloved wife, Dixie Lee Madigan. He married his high school sweetheart on November 29, 1956 in Wheatland.

Bob proudly served in the Unites States Marine Corps and then the Indiana National Guard. He had worked for Indiana Bell/AT&T for 25 years. In retirement, he enjoyed driving school buses for Carmel Clay Schools.

Bob was a kind and gentle soul who was devoted to his family. He was a member of Carmel United Methodist Church and had served his community as a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 213 – Three Rivers District and Explorer Post 213 – Three Rivers District in Vincennes, Indiana. He was also a member of the Carmel American Legion Post 155, Moose Lodge #2351 in Surfside Beach, SC, Gold Wing Road Riders Association and a supporter of Women on Wheels. He was also an accomplished bowler and had belonged to several bowling leagues over the years.

Bob loved making memories with his family on road trips across the United States with their travel trailer since 1973. He greatly appreciated experiencing different cultures and making new friends wherever he ventured. He especially loved regular trips to Myrtle Beach, SC where he cherished playing golf with his son and son-in-law, never-ending card games and falling asleep to the waves lapping on the beach at Pirateland Campground. Bob also had fond memories of regular vacations to Williamsburg, VA for anniversaries, Yellowstone, Hawaii and to Germany for his 50th wedding anniversary.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kelly René and dear sisters, Jackie Junkin, Margie Scott and Carolyn Corn.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Dixie; devoted children, Dawn (Jack) Nelson, Doug (Sara) Hill and Misti (Tony) Tracy; grateful grandchildren, Steve (Kristen) Plake, Chris (Katie Orwig) Nelson, Alex Nelson and Danyelle (Cory) Paddack; loving great-grandchildren, Libby Coyle-Paddack, Jacen Paddack, Quinn Paddack, Dylan Plake and Maverick Plake; dear brothers, John (Joey) Hill, Jerry (Rosella) Hill and Larry Hill as well as a host of extended family and old friends.

A celebration of life gathering will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Leppert Mortuary – Carmel Chapel followed by inurnment at the Crown Hill Annex National Cemetery with military honors.
