I was deeply saddened to hear of Bret Jungels’ passing. He was an inspiring leader and a truly kind person. I feel fortunate to have worked with him, and I will always remember the positive impact he had on those around him. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

My brother, your departure from this world came far, far too early.  I don't think you ever met a stranger.  In this world, that is truly special.    Our world lost something extraordinary, a once in a generation type person, when your soul left us.  It has left so many of us with a black hole in our lives with no way to fill it.
     As we shared the same career path, it was always nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of when a problem plagued.  Other times, we just ranted about silly decisions our employers were making.  Regardless, we always had each others backs.
     In sports, I was nowhere near as athletically gifted as you.  Perhaps in running I had a slight advantage, but on the basketball court, it wasn't even close.  It was great to play in the Buckingham Brawl all those years.  I'm glad we got to win it one year together.  So many great memories.
     You were a dedicated husband to Greta and a phenomenal father to Molly.  I know that with time they’ll be fine, but you certainly left big shoes to fill for all that you did for them.  They loved you so much, words can’t express.
     Mom and dad and the rest of us were always proud of the man you became, even if you didn’t often hear it.  You touched so many lives, especially Molly’s.  In your absence, we’ll do our best to be there for Molly and Greta.  We had talked many times about trying to get our families together for a family vacation and I promise you that somehow I’ll make that happen, though it won’t be the same without you.
     As the oldest, I always tried to protect the three of you brothers when needed.  This got me into trouble more than once.  While I know there was nothing I could do to help you with what happened, it still feels like I failed you.  Somewhere in the future, we’ll run together again and hit the courts for some basketball.  Until that time comes, I’ll carry you in my heart and my memories and do my best to make you proud as you look down on us from heaven.

Dear Brett,

It’s hard to believe you're really gone. You left this world, and now it feels different without you. As the youngest of three brothers, I always felt lucky to have all of you watching out for me. Now, part of me feels gone, and the space you leave behind is immense.

You were an incredible husband to Greta and a devoted father to Molly. The love you had for them was clear in everything you did—your world revolved around them and their world around you. The life you built was beautiful, full of laughter, loyalty, kindness, and love. 

You were a son any parent would be proud of, and I know Mom and Dad—Sue and Fred—carry that pride along with the heartbreak of losing you too soon. Glen, Ryan, and I are doing our best to honor you, we will carry you close to our hearts in memory and with the same strength you always showed.

Thank you for being such a big part of who I am. I miss you more than any words in this world could express. I promise to keep your memory alive. We will never be able to take your place, but we will all always be there for Greta and Molly. We will never take this life or this family for granted. Rest easy Brett you will be missed, but never forgotten. I know you are in good company, and you will always be remembered.

Prayers up for comfort and peace to Greta, Molly and all of Brett’s family and friends.  

My fondest memory of Brett comes from an impromptu dinner with him, Greta, Molly and my husband, Johnny. The laughs were plentiful. What struck me most was their beautiful family connection and Brett’s adoration of them both. Grateful for the opportunity to have known Brett.

I had the pleasure of working with Brett and Glen at Interactive Intelligence (Genesys) and Exacq Technologies (Johnson Controls). Brett was a very talented, bright, knowledgeable engineer and a great team player, always ready to help, very very kind person. Brett also was a good neighbor. It was a pleasure seeing Brett, Greta and Molly at community events and seeing their beautiful smiles on pages of the village magazine. We will miss Brett a lot.

I had the pleasure of meeting Brett during my first couple of days working at ININ in 2011. I lucked out because I was put on the same team as Greta. 

As I was reading this beautiful story of Brett's life, I wanted to share a quick memory that others may not have known. For a brief period before Molly came into the world, Brett and Greta started a new hobby, where they would find old furniture pieces, rehab them, and give them new life. When Greta found out that my brand new home was basically unfurnished, they set out to help me find something for storage. I am the proud owner of a Harper/Jungels collaboration piece -- a chest of drawers, still in use today. They even dropped it off and moved it in for me. Talk about amazing friends!

Greta and Molly, you have been and will continue to be in my thoughts. Sending you all my love today and forever.

I didn't know Brett personally, but remember him though his lovely wife — Greta, who referred me to Interactive Intelligence and worked with at a previous company. I always heard amazing things about him and he was a wonderful Guy.

I had the pleasure of working with Brett for over 10 yrs at Interactive Intelligence. I remember when he and Greta got married in 2011. And then my first wife Trish and I adopted Felix, an adorable Black Pug, who was part of our family for over 6 yrs. 

Brett was an extremely sharp and intelligent developer and systems engineer. He was always ready to help and was one of the kindest people I know.

You will be missed my friend.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.  I can't imagine the pain and hurt you are feeling.  Please know you are not alone during this difficult time.

I worked with Brett while at Purdue health center when he was studying at Purdue.  He helped me with the appointment desk getting kids schedule to see doctors.  He was such a sweet kind young man with a great sense of humor.  My Prayers go out to his family in this time of sorrow may God bless and watch over his family
