Cynthia Ann Zeunik

July 28, 2026, Cynthia A. Zeunik, 84 of Westfield, IN passed away peacefully, having been preceded by her husband Robert L. Zeunik, on that day she quietly shifted into God’s loving arms and was joyfully ushered up to heaven.

Cindy was the first child of Paul & Selina Flaugher. She was born April 29, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cindy spent her early years in the Hyde Park Square area of Cincinnati, and is a 1960 graduate of Withrow High School. Her grandparents owned several small grocery stores around Cincinnati, where Cindy and her younger brother, Paul, were regularly on hand to help stock shelves and straighten stock. She attended Indiana University School of Nursing in Indianapolis, and graduated with her nursing degree in 1964.

Cindy really enjoyed being outdoors, especially if it involved yardwork; she could be a bit of a “lawniseur” always cutting, trimming or transplanting something throughout their vast yards. She was not afraid to rev up the weed-eater or hit the gas pedal on the big riding lawn mower. Her beloved indoor plants were faithfully watered and tended to no-matter how high they were displayed or hung. Putting her gardening skills to the test she would scoot down to Newfields in her little convertible to volunteer as a flower snipper. Childhood memories are of her with a summer top on and zinc oxide on her nose as she dug, snipped and labored on her flower beds, listening to the Indy 500 on the radio.

Cindy was a big animal lover and host-mothered several cats (Daiquiri and Margarita); dog (Patches) and several horses. Cindy used her love of horses by volunteering and assisting with therapy sessions at AGAPE, and many times brought grandchildren along for rides on the Gator and to help with the horses. She was also a decades long member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and participated in numerous events honoring current and fallen war veterans.

Family memories will always be centered around the holidays as both Cindy and Bob loved to host all for memorable feasts. Christmas Eve was the big Zeunik family event with an entire dining table spread of all the family favorites. After stuffing in as many hors d’oeuvres as one can devour, it was then game-time with Grandma. The grandkids would delight in trying to one-up her in games of Sequence, Uno, Blackjack and the best all around laugh… getting Grandma to say “B*llsh*t” during a cheaters card game.

Cindy (along with Bob) were active members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish for 50+ years. Cindy was a member of CHRP team #2 at OLMC and regularly supported the Merciful Help Center with food deliveries alongside her husband Bob.

For many years Cindy was also an active volunteer at the Indianapolis healthcare charity B.A.B.E. store (assisting young Moms with children). She utilized her gift for laundry (never met a stain she couldn’t tackle) and would meticulously clean, mend and refresh donated toys and clothing for the children’s store.

Cindy and Bob first met on a blind date and married just six months later starting their 59 year marital adventure. Their loving relationship produced four children; daughters Melinda Brock (Paul), Sarah Kuntz, Jennifer Nicholls (Bill) and Jeff (Jennifer). Holidays and birthdays became larger (and boisterous) celebrations due to the addition of 9 grandchildren. Bob and Cindy relished their patriarchal roles as grandparents by organizing sleep overs, cook-outs, sporting events and trips to Kings Island. Her breakfast menu’s were renowned with all the grandchildren, as each could order their specific favorite at any seating. Beloved grandchildren: Collin Dykstra, Hagan Dykstra, Justin Kuntz, Elizbeth Bielski, Tanner Nicholls, Dylan Nicholls, Quin Zeunik, Cooper Zeunik and Emi Zeunik. Cindy was recently blessed to become a Great-Grandmother: Beaumont Dykstra, Nina and James Bielski. She is survived by her younger brother Paul Flaugher.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 5th between 9:30am -11am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (14598 Oak Ridge Rd., Carmel, IN) with eulogies beginning at 10:45am in the church narthex. Cindy's Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am in the church sanctuary.

Graveside services will be immediately following at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Rd., Indianapolis, IN
