Denise Marian Cox

Born on August 24, 1953, Denise lived a life marked by deep faith, an adventurous spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. For 51 beautiful years, she was married to the love of her life, Stephen E. Cox, who survives.

Denise was a woman of immense capability and drive. Professionally, she utilized her sharp mind as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the publishing industry for many years. Outside of work, her energy was unmatched; she achieved the remarkable feat of running a half marathon in every single state across the country.

Above all, Denise was defined by her love for others. She was a dutiful mother, grandmother, and caretaker who poured her heart into her family. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a deeply devoted member of the Hortonville United Methodist Church, where she grew close with her community through the Ladies Bible Study. Denise lived out her faith through her actions, volunteering her time generously with Open Doors and the Jail Ministry.

In addition to her husband Stephen, she is survived by her daughter, Kelli Killen; her son, Stephen (Cori) Cox and his wife Angel Tyra; her sister, Marsha Robinson; and her brother, Ricki Tirey. She was the cherished grandmother to Eliana, Amelia, Bret, Harley, Whitney, and Noah, and the proud great-grandmother to Abram, Harlan "Blue", Israel, Henry, John, and Audrie.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Doris Tirey; her brothers, Dan Tirey, Paul "Cork" Tirey, and Mick Glenn; and her sister, Michele Byers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hortonville United Methodist Church, 20590 Horton Rd, Sheridan, IN 46069, on September 15, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Open house. Bring snacks if you like, bring stories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Denise's honor to the ALS Association.
