What a great tribute to a great man! I enjoyed seeing the pictures and soaking in the memories. I played golf for "Coach" from 1975 through 1977. Being a lifelong Carmel resident I knew Don before high school and would see him around for years after. I always enjoyed seeing him. My mother went to high school in Anderson with Don. My condolences to the entire Huffer family. God Bless.

Dear Judy and family, so sorry to receive word of Don’s passing. My memories of Don and Judy go way back to 1959-1961 when Fred and I were students at CHS. Fred and I started dating in Sept. 1960 and married in 1965. Our first house was on Sherman Drive, right around the corner from you on Emerson and Dale and Erma in between our two homes. I never had Don as a teacher, but I know that he was a favorite of students. He always loved to tease Fred and me in school and years beyond. Looking at all your pictures you included, I’m sure brought back wonderful memories that you have to cherish for a lifetime. Peace and blessings to you all.

Mr Huffer was a truly stand out teacher. I had him for drivers education when it was given during the school year and I was a nervous 15 year old driving in the snow for the first time...we were driving next to a field and he said...turn here..and he had me drive in the field to experience getting stuck....which fortunately did not happen.but it was a great teaching moment..and a lot of fun. RIP Mr Huffer

Don was the first person to befriend me when I began teaching at Carmel High School. He was a genuine person and he along with Dale Graham, Eric Clark and Greg Ferrin were a major reason Carmel was so special not only to me, but to most people who had contact with them over the years. I truly will miss them all and my prayers go out Don's family.

My prayers go to the Huffer family.
Mr. Huffer or Coach , I meet in my freshman year at Carmel (1961) . I had him as a teacher of two classes and golf coach. I remember vividly how he motivated students in class and as an athlete. His words of encouragement have stayed with me through the years.
Thank you Mr. Huffer

To Don's Family,
I only taught and coached one year at Carmel High School (1959-60). But Don and I drove and attended Ball State together while we were both working on our Master's Degree. Even helped him write a couple of his papers! But he was a true friend and very personable. I am very impressed with his coaching record. He worked well with student athletes.
Blessings to family.

You were one of the most memorable teachers that I had at Carmel High School, and I still laugh when I remember things that happened in the car during driver's education. You were such a colorful man, and were one of my most favorite at CHS.

One of the things that I enjoyed most about going to play golf at Prairie View was teasing with you.

To Coach's family, you are in my prayers.

Rest in Peace, Coach.
