Born in Liverpool, England on April 15, 1942, Edna was a woman of immense strength, enterprise, and heart. Growing up in a lively household as one of eight children—comprising seven sisters and one brother—she discovered a profound talent for creativity at a young age. Though she earned acceptance into a prestigious art school, family circumstances unfortunately kept her from attending. Undeterred, Edna brought that same creative spark and sharp work ethic into her early years in Liverpool, working as a machine operator for Reads Drum Works, Luca’s, and Plumrose Sausage Works. In 1968, she immigrated to the United States with her husband, Joseph "Mike" Doran, who was employed by the Buehler Corporation. Upon arriving, Edna showcased her independent spirit by starting her own apartment complex maintenance business.
Edna’s lifelong dream was realized when she became a mother. She and Mike adopted their eldest daughter, Angela, and later welcomed their daughter Lisa, followed by twins, Jennifer and Stephanie. Edna poured her heart into her family as a full-time homemaker, dedicating herself entirely to raising her girls.
As her daughters grew older, Edna brought her boundless energy and organizational talents to school PTA fundraisers, worked in a local tea shop, and later worked at Marian College as a caterer managing weddings and special events. Finding joy in community and camaraderie, she was an active member of the British American Club, the Northeast Side Bowling League, and a multitude of dart leagues over the years.
Edna had a vibrant spirit and a deep passion for life. She loved traveling, playing the piano and guitar, and singing. Above all, her world revolved around her family. Her loved ones deeply cherish the memory of last summer, when they enjoyed one final trip together to her beloved hometown of Liverpool to celebrate the wedding of her daughter, Jennifer, to Brandt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elsie Ennis (Pritchard), and her sisters, Joan Hemmings, Elsie Farrell, Renie McKeown, and Beryl Boax.
Her legacy lives on through those who survive her: her sisters, Shirley Ashton and Valerie Hoare; her brother, Joe Ennis; and her devoted daughters, Angela Doran, Lisa Doran (Matt Kraus), Jennifer Atkins (Brandt), and Stephanie Rapp-Marvin (Darren). She was the proud grandmother to Dylan, Keegan, Kohlie (affectionately known as "Koko"), Dallas, Owen, Maggie, Matthew, and Christopher.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Leppert Mortuary - Carmel Chapel (900 N. Rangeline Rd, Carmel, IN). A formal memory-sharing ceremony will begin at 4:00 PM, where family and friends are invited to speak, laugh, and remember the incredible woman Edna was.
