Frederic “Fred” M. Iversen II, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2026. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado on May 2, 1975, Fred will be remembered as a generous man who was always ready to lend a hand. His steady presence and generous spirit touched many lives.
From an early age, Fred was fascinated with how things worked and took pride in learning by doing. From his early Legos creations, he moved to automotive work, beginning with the brakes on the family car. . .the NEW family car. Later, while working at Hobby Town, a passion for building RC cars and other models led him to Purdue University where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1998. He used his vast knowledge first as an intern for Alcoa, then working for Belden Wire, Pella Windows, Pioneer Electronics, and lastly for Rolls Royce. His work reflected the same care he brought to everything: attentive, precise, and grounded in a genuine desire to make things better.
Fred met the love of his life, Kim, at Carmel High School, but it wasn’t until they were freshmen at Purdue that their relationship really began. They dated for 8 years as they finished college and began their careers before marrying on November 17, 2001 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. They went on to have two sons, Oscar and Felix. He was dedicated to his family first and foremost, and he carried that devotion into every part of his life.
A cycling fanatic, Fred was a member of the (in)famous Shamrock Cycles since 2011, where he was affectionately known as “Mother” to his teammates and “The Ginger Viking” to cyclists near and far. He was able to fix anything he encountered and loved figuring out how things worked. Never passing on an opportunity to help others, he was never intimidated by a project, whether it required plumbing, electrical, or mechanical repair. He was also fluent in movie quotes and had an encyclopedic knowledge of useless facts that he constantly shared. When Fred fixed something for you, you could always expect the project to take twice as long, not because it was a big or difficult project, but because Fred was an engaging and animated conversationalist.
Fred is survived by his wife, Kimberly Kaser Iversen; sons Oscar and Felix Iversen; brother, John Iversen; parents, Fred and Hilda Iversen; parents-in-law, Larry and Karen Kaser; sister-in-law, Kelly Kaser; brother-in-law, Brian Kaser; nephews, Noah Mills and Milo Kaser, and his bestest boy, Odie, the family’s mixed lab. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his first set of labs, Pete and Ellie.
Visitation will be held at Leppert Mortuary-Carmel Chapel, 900 N. Rangeline Road, Carmel, IN 46032, on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow the services at Carmel Cemetery, 1000 N. Rangeline Road, Carmel, IN 46032.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to a fund set up for Oscar and Felix: Zelle [email protected]
