

Gary Lee Walton, 73, of Noblesville Indiana passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2026, just days after his 50th wedding Anniversary. He returned to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was married to Lee Ann Walton on May 15, 1976, in Orland, Indiana. He is survived by his three sons Kyle (Elizabeth), Cory, and Cole Walton, and helped raise nephews Eric (Dana) Oxender and Layne (Hana) Elliott.
Gary was born on July 22, 1952, in Huntington, Indiana to the late Noel and Rosemary (Fage) Walton. He graduated from Prairie Heights High School in Lagrange County, excelling in basketball, football, and golf. He attended Indiana University, playing basketball his freshman year before enlisting to serve his country in the U.S. Army in 1974. He volunteered for airborne duty and earned the coveted Maroon Beret and Airborne wings. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was called to lead paratroopers in Bravo Company 1st Battalion 505TH Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) as a Sergeant and Non-Commissioned Officer.
He was an entrepreneur, founder, business owner, and a leader, most of his life. Gary had a passion for basketball, coaching, mentoring, and passing on his knowledge and love of the game, over decades. He embodied creativity, adventure, hard work, and perseverance, throughout his life.
Gary was a strong conservative, a patriot, and loved the United States of America and its military. He enjoyed fishing, movies, music, driving, and raised several Weimaraners, leaving behind his loving and loyal companion, Chase.
Most of all, Gary was a warrior for Jesus, compassionate, generous, optimistic, and loving of his children and grandchildren, and could always be found praying for them. He is survived by grandchildren, Kyle, Elijah, Lillian, Lauren, Emily, Connor, and Colin.
He was preceded by his parents and his brother Ronnie. He is also survived by his sisters Penny and Cindy, brother Larry, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Gary will be held at the Chapel at Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E 38th St, Marion, IN 46953 on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Interment follows at 11:00 AM.
