Harriet A. MacKinnon, 78 years old of Westfield, Indiana passed away on Monday, January 24th after a sudden illness. Harriet was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 25, 1943 and grew up in the area. Her family also had a farm in Clinton, IN. She graduated from Garfield High School in Terre Haute. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Indiana State University. She was married to John Alan MacKinnon on June 12, 1971. She went on to teach fourth grade at North Elementary for the Carmel Clay school system and a year later she moved to a new building to teach at College Wood Elementary. After her teaching career she later worked as a bank teller for Union State bank in Westfield, IN for many years. After that she worked for several years for CIPROMS medical billing company in Indianapolis, which she later retired from in 2016.
Harriet is survived by her husband John Alan MacKinnon; her daughter Elizabeth A. MacKinnon (Ryan); her daughter Kristin L. Conley (Kevin); and her stepson Brian A. MacKinnon (Melissa); her brother John H. Ahlemeyer (Margaret) and her brother-in-law Don S. MacKinnon (Nancy); her granddaughter Lauren N. Mallory and her granddaughter Hailey N. Hendrix (Kevin). Harriet is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Harriet was preceded in death by her Father, Harry H. Ahlemeyer; Mother, Helen M. Ahlemeyer; Brother-In-Law, Pete MacKinnon and several Aunts and Uncles.
A visitation for Harriet will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 9AM to 10 AM at Leppert Mortuary in Carmel, IN located at 900 North Rangeline Rd., followed by a funeral service at 10 AM. A funeral procession will follow for commitment services at Hamilton Memorial Park located at 4180 Westfield Rd., Westfield, IN.
