I was born, I lived, I loved, I’ve been loved, I married, we had children.
I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I raged, I voted, I’ve been hired and I’ve been fired, I whistled, I wrote. I’ve touched some lives and been touched by so many more.
It was a wonderful trip, this life long voyage. Wonderful experiences aplenty, some of the best were my years at Shortridge HS and Butler University and the USAF in N Africa. None tops marriage, for 48 years to Susie. Another 10 years to Rita Jo. My, I have been blessed with two soulmates. Two wonderful, (what else), children, Krista Deese (Mike) & Kevin Miller (Kari), two beautiful and loving step daughters, Vicki Tokie (Jeff) and Becky Bultemeier (Mike) and four beautiful granddaughters, Kelsey, Molly, Ellie and Amber, and grandsons Connor and Drake and God has blessed me, us with two bonus sons, Peter Schield and Pascal Regnier and I love them just as I love Kevin.
I was able to visit, and spend time in 65 countries spread over 6 continents, first with Susie and then Rita Jo.
There’s the resume stuff, a BA, a MS, an MBA, Mensa. I’ve been a carpenter framing houses, salesman, HS science teacher, CEO, owned my own firm, had wonderful clients (And a few cpas - certified pains in the ---). I’ve written business articles and poetry. I loved writing poetry as it gave my heart a voice. The best jobs were husband and friend and I could have done both better.
And then there are the automobiles, but that belongs in a different story.
Life has treated me quite well. I hope I’ve returned the favor. And now I get to join Susie (d. 2013) and my sister (d. 2022), mom & dad, who adopted me when I was 8, gave me a new name (the old one was Harold Sager Deane, Jr.), and an opportunity at life.
I’m thankful for where I’ve been, what I’ve done and where I’m going. I’m ready, I am at peace. See y’all later.
Jim’s family would like to thank the wonderful caring staff at Heartland Hospice, Linda, Beth and Marcella, who not only cared for Jim but also his family. A celebration of life will take place on March 22 at Traders Point Church in Carmel – (1242 W 136th Street, Camel, IN 46032). 10am visitation, 11am service with a reception (light lunch) taking place right after. Bring your stories and jokes to share as we celebrate the incredible life of Jim Miller. If you are inclined to make a donation, dad loved the Tunnel to Towers Foundation that helps support military and first responders.
