Johneva H. Campbell, 101, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, in her home of more than sixty years. Johneva—known affectionately as Johnnie—maintained throughout her life an enduring kindness, grace, and compassion, as well as a deep appreciation for beauty and a steadfast love for her family and friends. She often expressed her gratitude for a long and full life, one that reflected her gentle strength and faith in letting nature take its course. Born on September 9, 1924, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Archie and Ruth Hunt, Johneva was preceded in death by her husband Gene; daughter Mary; and sister Doris. She is survived by her twin brother John Hunt; Daughters Ann C. (Mark) Allen. Elizabeth Bunny J. Dowden; Sons Stephen J. (Chris) Campbell and James Nelson (Debbie) Campbell; eleven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Johnnie was an avid gardener, golfer, and button collector. She devoted many years to volunteer service, including twenty-five years with St. Vincent’s Hospice and countless election seasons working the voting polls. She was a longstanding member of Tri Kappa. She found joy in creating beautiful floral arrangements that brightened the lives of others. A fiercely independent woman, Johnnie lived with humility and integrity—always with style and grace. Her spirit, warmth, and wisdom will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her. Services will be held at Leppert Funeral Home, Carmel, on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested in Johnnie's name to The Salvation Army.
