Obituary of Kathryn Ann Doerr
Kathryn “Kathy” Ann (Sokol) Doerr, 80, formerly of Pendleton, IN passed from this life on February 22, 2022 after an extended illness. Kathy was the first of two daughters born to Peter and Louise (Niedenthal) Sokol on July 26th, 1941 in Anderson, IN. She graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School in Anderson in 1959 and from Marian College, Indianapolis in 1963 with a degree in social work and psychology. It was in that same year, on June 22, that she married her high school sweetheart, Christopher Michael Doerr. Soon after, she found her life’s calling and began her storied and selfless career as a mother and eventual grandmother. Kathy was a devoted Roman Catholic who instilled in her children the importance of the faith through her unwavering example. Her love for her husband, children and grandchildren were unparalleled. But perhaps her best attribute was the loving support she showed those facing adversity. She offered faithful support, warmth, a warm meal and chocolate chip cookies, hugs and sage advice like, “Offer it up.” Kathy’s legacy lives on through the following who love her and will miss her dearly: daughter, Susan (Greg) Augustinovicz, Middletown; son, Reverend Brian Doerr, Pastor, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Carmel; son, Reverend Richard Doerr, Pastor, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carmel; son, David (Marya) Doerr, Anderson; daughter, Sarah (Carl) Eber, Columbia, MO; daughter, Elizabeth (Brandon) Gorney, Lafayette; son, Matthew (Randi) Doerr, Knightstown; 17 grandchildren: Kyle (Ashlee), Nicholas, Zachary (Shelbi), Johnmichael, Annamarie and Christopher Augustinovicz; Victoria Eber; Isabella, Kateri, JohnPaul, Gabriel, Cecilia, and Luciana Gorney; Jakob and Ainsley Doerr; and six great-grandchildren, Ava, Uriah, Alli, Scarlett, Reagan and Finley Augustinovicz. Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Phyllis (Sokol) Kolackovsky and grandchildren Tyler and Ashley Augustinovicz. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 9:30AM to 12:30PM on Friday, February 25 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in the Narthex. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Bishop Timothy Doherty at 12:30PM. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson, IN at 3:45PM.
