Lila Joyce Chiappetta

Born on July 28, 1943, Lila grew up with a love for family, faith, and a good recipe. While attending the University of Wisconsin–Stout, she met the love of her life, Richard Chiappetta. They married on January 2, 1965, and built a life together filled with warmth, devotion, and shared purpose.

Lila was a gifted cook and teacher, sharing her passion through cooking classes, demonstrations, and co-owning the Cameo Garden Tea Room in downtown Carmel, Indiana in the early 2000’s. Her creativity and hospitality touched many lives and created lasting memories for all who visited.

She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where she volunteered generously and participated in mission trips and pilgrimages. Her deep Catholic faith guided her life and inspired her service at the Merciful Help Center and Trinity Free Clinic, where she found joy in helping others.

Above all, Lila loved being a grandmother. Her seven grandchildren—Kathryn, Cooper, Matthew, Nicholas, Samuel, Margaret, and Noah—were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Lila is survived by her children, Joe Chiappetta (Darcie), Jeff Chiappetta (Kim), and Cindy Barnett (Mike); her brother, Bill Christiansen (Ricki Bellos); and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; her brother, Dennis Christiansen and her parents William and Alice Christiansen.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oak Ridge Rd, Carmel, Indiana on Thursday, November 6th from 4pm to 6:30pm with a closing evening prayer beginning at 6:45pm. Funeral Mass will take place Friday, November 7th at 10am. Please join us for a light luncheon downstairs immediately following the Mass. Burial service will take place at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Merciful Help Center and Trinity Free Clinic, causes close to Lila’s heart.
