Linda Hall Conner was born on January 13, 1943 in Indianapolis, to Julia and George Wesley Hall. She was the third of their four children. Linda was raised in Lawrence, which she said felt to her like the country, at that time. She grew up in the house her daddy built, of which she was quite proud. Her childhood home included their chickens and pigs, and a best friend just across the street. Linda went to Saint Lawrence grade school, then she moved on to Scecina High School. There, she made lifelong friends. She had a standing monthly lunch with the Scecina gals. These girls would call, text and visit regularly. They have stories that cause laughter today just like they did when they were living them!
Linda attended Indiana University for one year, a place she met another group of good friends that she held onto her whole life, but her heart was not in Bloomington. Instead, he was in Carmel, Indiana. She came home for the gangly boy who had her heart, her honey love, Gerald Conner. They married in 1964, a union that lasted until his death in 2023. Together, they moved even further into the country and had two beautiful babies of their own- Shannon at the end of that year, and Colleen, who was born two years later.
Linda was active at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church as both a parent at the school and a member of the Parish. She remained a faithful Catholic her whole life. Sundays were for Mass. No matter where she was, or who she was with, her Jer would help her to get to the nearest Catholic Church. Remembering the miles covered to find some of those churches, Shannon and Colleen dreaded telling her she would have to watch Mass on TV during Covid. She loved sharing her faith with her girls and her grandchildren. She instilled in them a love of Jesus and respect for Catholic education.
The only thing that brought Linda more joy than being a mom was being a grandma. She was so good at it! Holidays were her specialty. She had traditions for all the holidays. She couldn’t start calling early enough to make the plans. She was grandma to Hannah DuLac, and the Bielefeld kids- Shane, Grace, Rose, Clare, Hailey and Neve. She was Great Grandmama (GiGi) to Doris Elliot, Aurora and Archer Hignite, and Otto Bielefeld
