Maureen A. Koontz, 78, passed away on September 3, 2026. Born September 11, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Maureen lived in Westfield, Indiana, and will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude by all who knew her.
Maureen spent her life as a dedicated homemaker, but also worked briefly as a master cosmetologist. In an unexpected turn of talents, she additionally worked in excavation and lawn care. She was a woman of diverse passions who deeply loved her family, music, racing, and diving into her ancestry. Most of all, she deeply loved her husband, Mac, who first captured her heart when he was her paper boy when they were just 10 and 14 years old.
She is survived by her beloved spouse, Malcolm "Mac" Koontz. She leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Brent Koontz and Karoline Sandstrom, alongside her daughter-in-law, Vikki Koontz. She was a cherished grandmother to Kendra, Leanna, Kiel, Allison, and Lillian, and a proud great-grandmother to Grant, Jack, and Sam. Maureen is also survived by her sister, Tina (Scott) Morris; brother-in-law Stanley Koontz; her nieces, Shannon and Amanda Morris; her great-niece, Adrianna; and her great-nephew, Dominik.
Maureen was preceded in death by parents Robert and Marvelle Davis, as well as her sister, Kathie Powers.
Visitation will be held at Leppert Mortuary-Carmel Chapel, 900 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, IN 46032, on September 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will follow at the same location on September 12, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am.
