Patricia Elaine Witt

78, of Carmel departed this life on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Pat was born November 19, 1946 in Goshen, Indiana to the late Sanford Lamar & Betty Irene (Phend) Stouder. She was a 1965 graduate of Nappanee High School and then attended Indiana University – South Bend and Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina.

On September 10, 1967, Pat Married Melvin Clyde Witt at Nappanee Church of the Brethren. In 1974, she and her husband Mel moved to Carmel. Pat worked for Carmel Clay Schools in the Educational Service Center retiring in 2008. She loved working with the school district and had made many long-time friends there.

Pat was a kind and gentle soul who always put the needs of others first with a positive attitude. She was devoted to her family and keeping things organized and efficient. She loved being a wife and mother above all else and was an accomplished baker of the best birthday cakes and cookies.

Pat loved making friends wherever she went and had enjoyed a long-running, monthly neighborhood Euchre night. Much fun was had with food, cards and fellowship. She also enjoyed an annual trip to The Outer Banks of North Carolina where she and her family made many wonderful memories along the barrier islands. In retirement, she and Mel shared morning walks, Scrabble games, watching a good Hallmark movie and just being together.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her brother, Tim Stouder; sister, Barb and husband Ron Keiser.

Pat is survived by her devoted husband, Mel Witt; children, Phil (Sandi) Witt and Terry Witt; grandchildren, Austin Witt, Dylan Witt and Brooklyn Witt; siblings, Julie Stouder and Roger (Vicki) Stouder; and niece Kim Keiser, as well as a host of dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Pat’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, a disease Pat battled for years along with her parents and brother.

A Celebration of Pat's Life will be Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Nappanee Church of the Brethren Fellowship Hall. Final services will be in The Outer Banks, where Pat’s ashes will be scattered.
