Phyllis Jean Sumara

94, of Westfield, Indiana departed this life Thursday, December 7, 2023. Jean was born May 22, 1929 in North Judson, Indiana to the late Charles & Gladys (Bane) James. She grew up and attended schools in Kouts and Rensselaer Indiana. She had also lived in Alabama, and had also had a home at Jensen Beach, Florida in her retirement.

Jean was a kind and gentle soul who always put her family first in her life. She had worked in several hospitals over the years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She loved caring for others and making a difference. She enjoyed bowling and had belonged to many bowling leagues over the years. She loved to travel and experience new things and rarely passed on a game of bingo.

Jean is survived by her beloved children, Andrew Winter, Jr., Nancy (Mike) Keyser, Jackye (John) Winter and Vivian (Gary) Imdieke; grandchildren (Nancy) Shannon Rose, (Andy) Ariana, Carley and stepsons Justin and Paul and several nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her dear siblings, Joella, Kay, Norman and Chuck.

Private services with cremation were held.
