Susan was born on October 8, 1941, to Weldon and Mary Stafford. She graduated from South Bend Central High School before attending Kalamazoo College, where she earned her Master's degree in Music. During her college years, she broadened her perspective through a study abroad program at the University of Bonn in Germany, an experience that fostered her lifelong appreciation for travel, culture, and learning.
On May 2, 1970, Susan married the love of her life, Robert Cox, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and shared adventures.
Susan spent her professional career as a nursing home administrator, where her leadership and dedication enriched the lives of countless residents, families, and colleagues. She was known for her unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care.
Susan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved her pets, hiking scenic trails, traveling to new places, preserving cherished memories through scrapbooking and photography, and gathering with friends for spirited games of Mahjong. She especially treasured the friendships she cultivated along the way, including those within her Westfield neighborhood community.
Above all, Susan's greatest pride was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Weldon (Sarah) Cox and Ford (Amanda) Cox; and her three beloved granddaughters, Corrina, Madeline, and Isabella, who brought immense joy to her life.
Susan was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert Cox; her parents, Weldon and Mary Stafford; and her brother, Robert Stafford.
