

Susan K. Kuhn, 80, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025. Born on May 21, 1945, in Richmond, Indiana, Sue lived a life marked by her unwavering dedication to nursing, education, and her family.
Sue graduated from Indiana University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), both earned with high honors. Her career was a reflection of her deep commitment to caring for others. She spent many years as a compassionate nurse at Riley Hospital, where she touched countless lives. Sue also shared her knowledge and passion for nursing as a faculty member at the Indiana University School of Nursing, later serving as the Program Coordinator for the Nursing Program at the University of Indianapolis. Her influence on the next generation of nurses was profound and lasting.
Sue was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jack and Jean Moss, and her devoted husband, Don A. Kuhn. She is survived by her two daughters, Kristi K. Baker (husband Bryan) and Pamela J. Heisler (husband Mark), as well as her four cherished grandsons: Sam Baker (wife Bobbie), Nick Baker (wife Olivia), Luke Heisler, and Logan Heisler. Sue’s love for her family was boundless, and she was a strong, intelligent women who taught her daughters to be independent.
A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the University of Indianapolis School of Nursing (Susan Kuhn Scholarship Fund). 1400 Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227, where she spent many fulfilling years shaping the future of the profession she loved.
Sue will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of education, the importance of family, and the healing hands of a devoted nurse.
