Susie attended Christ the King Church and Memorial High School in Evansville, IN. Susie loved to play volleyball and tennis growing up. She graduated from Indiana University with a bachelors of science in nursing with high honors. After graduation, Susie worked in the Methodist Hospital Cath Lab in Indianapolis for 14 years. Susie and Leroy were married November 7th, 1987 at Christ the King Church in Evansville. In 1995, Susie decided to stay home to take care of her 3 children. In 2002, Susie moved to Belgium for 2 years due to Leroy’s work assignment. She enjoyed the American Women’s Club, antiquing, and travelling around Europe. She was an active member in a small catholic church while she lived in Belgium.
Susie has been an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel since 1998. Susie was active with RCIA, bible studies, CRHP, EMHC, prayer groups, Merciful Help Center and many other ministries. In 2010, she became the school nurse at Our Lady of Mount Carmel school, a position she enjoyed and loved the most. She worked hard to take excellent care of every student’s mental and physical health.
Susie was incredibly outgoing, caring and joyful. Susie would spark conversations with anyone around her that lead to many treasured friendships. Susie’s faith was her foundation and she loved to attend mass. She prayed the Rosary often.
Susie’s hobbies included watching and playing tennis, bicycling, swimming, watching Tour de France, IU basketball, and growing flowers. Susie and Leroy met while swimming laps at the IUPUI Natatorium and were engaged on a scuba dive in Cozumel, Mexico. She loved to sell Susie’s Honey at the farmers market.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Hildegard Wezet, and son Jason Wignot.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years Leroy Wignot; children, Michael Wignot, Heather Wignot; siblings; Greg Wezet(Judy), John Wezet(Debbie), Mark Wezet(Susan), Ann Weizenegger(Mark), and Michael Wezet(Shelley), many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family will gather Wednesday, August 9th from 4pm-7pm for visitation at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, August 10th, 2023 at 2:30pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with one hour of visitation prior to the mass.
