68, of Carmel, Indiana departed this life Saturday, September 19, 2020. She was born January 16, 1952 in Indianapolis to the late Robert H. And Betty (Haymaker) Byrkett. She was a graduate of Warren Central High School and worked towards a degree in psychology at IUPUI.
Teresa was a loving wife, an amazing mother and a doting grandmother. She was happiest spending time with her family, especially her grandkids whom she loved unconditionally. She was often at peace listening to KLove music while gardening at home. She taught her family to love the great outdoors by leading camping trips with fishing, hikes, swimming and bike rides. She loved to play softball with everything she had well into her 40’s. If it was football season you could hear her yelling and dancing for her Colts team. She was kind and gentle and could make anyone feel welcome. Listening and loving on her family and friends was a gift she had, and she was able to find the good in all around her. She was a great woman of strength who didn’t let anything get in her way. She was a former member of Central Christian Church and current member of Northview Church where she cherished the friendship of her life group members. She was also a regular volunteer at Prime Life Enrichment of Carmel.
Teresa was preceded in death by her brothers, Jeff and Gary Byrkett. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, James A. “Jim” Hodgin; her beloved children, Amy (David) Ray, Scott Hodgin and Lyndi (Matt) Calhoun and her adoring grandchildren, Tyler and Carson Ray, Mercedes Stanley, Bracken and Asa Hodgin, and Talaoso, Valasi, Lillie and Bennett Calhoun.
Teresa’s family would like to thank all the family, friends and the team of amazing nurses and doctors at St Vincent that came to her side during the last couple months. She was a strong woman of faith who is now in her Heavenly home.
