Terri Ruth Craig, lovingly known as “Baby Ruth,” passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in Noblesville, Indiana, at the age of 65. Born on November 15, 1960, in Covington, Kentucky, to Edward James Lay Jr. and Delores (Shirley) Lay, Terri lived a life full of love, resilience, and devotion.
Terri spent her early years in Erlanger-Elsmere, Kentucky, where she attended grade school before moving to Mooresville, Indiana, in 1969. She graduated from Mooresville High School and began building a life that reflected her strength and independence. As a teenager, Terri modeled and worked on multiple other projects—a testament to her poise and confidence.
Throughout her life, Terri pursued a diverse career path that showcased her versatility and determination. In her younger years, she worked at Dog-N-Suds and Automotive Armature in Mooresville. Later, she found joy driving a special education bus for Fort Wayne Community Schools and working for Pony Express in Fort Wayne. A certified welder with remarkable skill, Terri ultimately left her long-time welding position with Pyromation in Fort Wayne in 2022 after years of dedicated service. She moved to Noblesville, IN in 2024 to retire and just enjoy being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Terri’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her three daughters: Shana Tremaine (Taylor), Shawnda Taylor, and Kimberly Dallman (Taylor); eight grandchildren: Bradley Tremaine, Caitlyn Tremaine, Amiya Tremaine, Paige Walling, Sydney Taylor, Raegan Taylor, Noah Dallman, and Emma Dallman; six great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Edward Lay, III, Lisabeth Wilson (Lay), MerriSue Sayler (Lay), and Bryan Lay along with many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents but leaves behind a legacy of love that will endure through those who cherished her.
Terri’s passions extended far beyond her professional accomplishments. She loved being outdoors—camping under the stars or simply basking in the sun—and found joy in connecting with nature by petting animals or enjoying its beauty. A creative soul at heart, she expressed herself through drawing and art while also finding solace in reading daily devotions. Her faith was central to her life; she delighted in teaching her great-grandchildren about Jesus and sharing God’s goodness with family and friends.
A member of the VFW in Fort Wayne, Terri embraced community through music and dancing at karaoke nights. Her vibrant spirit shone brightly as she celebrated life with those around her. Whether spending time with family or holding babies—something she adored—Terri brought warmth wherever she went.
Known for her strength and independence, Terri never encountered a challenge she couldn’t overcome. Her unwavering support for her children and grandchildren was evident in every aspect of her life. She was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
May Terri Ruth Craig’s memory bring comfort to those who knew her as they celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love for family, faith in God’s grace, and an enduring connection to the world around her.
There will be a private showing and a Celebration of Life to be determined at a later date.
