

91, of Carmel, Indiana departed this life Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Thelma was born June 24, 1930 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Herschel and Luela A. (Scott) Mendenhall.
Thelma was a kind and gentle person who was happiest making memories with her family and friends. She has worked for many years as a supervisor for Indiana Bell in New Castle. In addition to also working at New Castle and Carmel Clay schools, She formerly served on the Democratic Precinct Committee for seven years in New Castle and had served as president and vice-president of the Marion County Master Gardener Association. As an accomplished Master Gardener, Thelma also served as editor and writer for the Master Gardener News. She was also an outstanding cook and advanced quilter.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lawless; her children, Steven and Beth Lawless and sister, Freida Wright.
Thelma is survived by her sister, Wilma Robinson; grandson, Scott and wife (Amber) Lawless and several great grand-children.
A graveside service for Thelma at Carmel Cemetery in Carmel, Indiana will begin at 12:00 pm on Monday, April 11th.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association.
