85, of Carmel, Indiana departed this life Sunday, June 19, 2022. Vinny was born February 22, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Vincent and Dorothy (Mallo) Desmond. He earned his degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI.
Vinny had owned and operated Circle City Metals and LDL Sporting Goods, boxing promoter and was VP of Sales at IMPLLC. He was a member of Indian Lake Country Club and a Nationally ranked handball player. He was a longtime youth and high school football and baseball coach and was an inspiration to many young men. Vinny enjoyed playing golf and snow skiing. He loved listening to music and dancing, but was happiest making memories with his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Ann Desmond and son-in-law, Jay William Archer.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judith Ann (Strauss) Desmond; devoted children, Alison Archer and Mark (Terra) Desmond; grandchildren, Lindsey (Jon) Shaw, Kevin (Caroline) Archer, Tyler Desmond, Shae Desmond and Jacob Desmond, four great grandchildren as well as a host of old friends and extended family.
Memorial visitation for Vinny will begin at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 18th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and conclude at time of eulogies at 3:15 pm followed by Mass at 3:30 pm. A reception follows from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Indian Lake Country Club.
Memorial contributions in his name are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Cancer Support Community Indiana. Vinny will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan with his daughter Leslie Ann.
