Albina Mary Young was born on June 23, 1911 in Lindsay, Texas to Margaret and Joseph Bezner and died on December 14, 2011 in Farmers Branch, Texas. Albina is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Robert C. Young, son James Young, Sisters; Mrs. Dorothy Zimmerer of Lindsay, Texas and Mrs. Elsie Benenate of Farmers Branch, Texas, Brothers; Mr. Joe Bezner of Lindsay, Texas and Mr. Hubert Bezner of Dallas, Texas and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Albina married Robert C. Young on May 1, 1936 and were blessed with a 75 year-long romance. Albina selflessly volunteered countless hours (67 years) with the American Red Cross. She began volunteering during WWII and was head of their production room for more than 50 years. She also volunteered at Parkland Hospital in the Gift Shop, at the Office on Aging and received the Savory Award for 50 years of volunteer work and the Freedom Award of Valley Forge. The American Red Cross Dallas Area Chapter recognizes volunteers each year who exceed every expectation and obstacle in order to carry out the Red Cross mission, and have named one of these awards the “Albina & Bob Young Lifetime Achievement Award”. In honor of their 70th wedding anniversary, the City of Farmers Branch awarded a proclamation for the Robert & Albina Young Day.
Albina touched many lives and was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation: Rhoton Funeral Home at 1511 S. I-35 E in Carrollton, TX on Tuesday, December 20th at 6:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 7:30.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 21st at 10:30 AM at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church at 2800 Valwood Parkway in Farmers Branch, TX with final service at the National Cemetery in Dallas at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
