Catherine "Dickie" Robertson originally from West Austintown, Ohio died April 25, 2013 at the age of 93 after a short illness. She worked at United Transportation Union in Cleveland, Ohio until her retirement in 2005. For 35 years, she had carpooled to work with her sister Mary Glenn until Mary's death in 2005. Not forgetting where she came from, Dickie gave back to the community of West Austintown by donating time and money in erecting a memorial for Brunstetter Cemetery which included a granite monument with the name of the cemetery, plaque and flag pole in Mary's honor. Both Dickie and Mary had a flare for gambling on the lottery and the Super Bowl but nothing compared to Derby Day at UTU for the Kentucky Derby.
Dickie was born January 3, 1920 to a Scotsman and an Irish lady, James and Nellie Robertson. She was the youngest of four children.
In 2010, she relocated to Coppell, Texas to be closer to family. After arriving in Texas, she quickly made new friends and enjoyed her retirement at St. Joseph Village. She especially enjoyed meeting new friends from Scotland. She enjoyed taking her family back in time with her stories and pictures of the family from past generations. She loved her Cleveland Indians but was known to cheer loudly for the Texas Rangers when she attended games.
Dickie is survived by the families of Robert L. Glenn II (nephew), Virginia G. Martinez (niece), and James P. Glenn (nephew). She will be greatly missed by three generations of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services are being held at St Joseph Village Chapel at 11:30 am Wednesday May 1st, internment at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her name.
