

Born the 5th of 7 boys on August 22, 1944, Charles had a powerful bond with his siblings that lasted a lifetime. He graduated from North Dallas High School in 1962 and attended North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas). After serving in the Army during Vietnam, Charles dedicated his life to Education, earning a degree in teaching from the University of North Texas and completing his Doctorate degree in December of 1977.
He began his career in education as a history teacher in the Dallas Independent School District. After completing his Doctorate he became a beloved principal in the Dallas Independent School District, in Highland Park Independent School District, and in Carrollton-Farmer Branch Independent School District. Dr. Cole ended his career in CFBISD after serving as Director of Student Services and Assistant Superintendent. His love of learning and working with peers was one of his greatest enjoyments in life.
In addition to his career in education, Charles was member of the Rotary Club where he served as secretary and enjoyed participating in their charitable activities.
Charles loved helping anyone with a remodeling project. Building and creating new spaces brought him immense joy. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Road trips in the latest van brought joy to so many travelers. Ski trips with family and vacations abroad became a large part of his life both before and after retirement. One of his favorite places was Lake Bonham where he enjoyed many happy days with family and friends. The lake provided a place for Charles to hold large gatherings for friends and family to eat, fish, enjoy boating, and playing games. He loved soccer, other sports, and beating anyone and everyone at billiards and ping pong.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Clarence Cole and Ruby Lee Cole and brothers Clarence Lee Cole, Tiny Cole, Nicky Cole, and Tommy Cole (Bobbie).
He is survived by his wife Pat Jones Cole, his children Lisa Zimmerman (Steve), Dave Cole (Kristen), Emily Cole and their mother Leta Cole. He is also survived by his step children Stephanie Wilken (Bret) and Aaron Jones (Landry). His grandchildren Michael Zimmerman, Matthew Zimmerman, Mackenzie Zimmerman, Billie Cole, Charlie Cole, Jack Wilken, Kate Wilken, Luke Wilken, Brady Jones, and his siblings Tex Cole (Kay) and Rex Cole as well as sister in law Doris Cole, Eva Cole, Margaret Cole, and many nieces and cousins.
Above all, Dr. Charles C Cole was a GOOD man.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on what would have been Charles' 82nd birthday at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton, TX on Saturday, August 22 from 2 to 4pm.
