

Charles Roger Massie, age 85, passed away on April 22, 2026 in Carrollton Texas. He was born on February 19, 1941 in Sparta, Illinois to Charles and Charlotte Massie. Roger was raised in Sparta and attended Southern Illinois University (SIU) receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree.
He served his country in the United States Navy.
He was married to Sandra Suzanne Engelhardt, his high school sweetheart in 1961, enjoying almost 65 years of marriage. The couple had three children and seven grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Charles Massie, his mother, Charlotte Massie and his sister Louise Harrison.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Massie, his daughter, Lori Van Alstine (Randy), his daughter, Jill Husek (Rick), and his son, Justin Massie.
He had seven grandchildren, Lucas Van Alstine (Halle), Colton Van Alstine (Abby), Emily Bedell, Lindsey Husek, Audrey Husek (Josh), Gibson Massie, and Presley Massie.
He was a talented artist, both in career and personal life. And used that art talent as Art Director for James Robison Ministries, Life‘s Answer Magazine.
His proudest moments were when the family was together. He was humble and caring, and funny with a warm big heart. He was quite the storyteller and had a great sense of humor. He had a passion for praying for people and would often stop them in the street to pray for them. He adored his grandchildren and spent quality time with each of them in their own way.
Celebration of Life services will be held at Prince of Lutheran Church, 4000 Midway Road, Carrollton Texas 75007 on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. With burial at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
