Diana “Kay” (Adams) Lewis passed away peacefully at her home in Carrollton on January 2nd surround by her family. Kay was born in Dallas, Texas, to Marvin and Joan Adams and lived a life defined by love, service, and deep devotion to family and community. She spent her childhood in the Chicago suburb of Glenview, where she graduated from Maine High School, forming friendships and values that stayed with her throughout her life. Kay later returned to Texas to attend North Texas State College, where she met the love of her life, Calvin Lewis, beginning a partnership rooted in faith, commitment, and shared purpose.
Kay’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to four children—Melanie Kay Hugele, Daniel B Lewis, Robert J Lewis, and Bonnie Kay Marks—and a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren who brought endless happiness to her heart. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her home. Kay dedicated 37 years as a schoolteacher, shaping young minds with patience, kindness, and an unwavering belief in the importance of education exemplified by her earning a Masters of Education at UT Dallas mid-career. After retiring from teaching, she continued her lifelong calling to serve others through volunteer management at Dallas Heritage Village, where she was also an active member of the women’s club supporting the village’s mission.
Service was the thread that ran through every chapter of Kay’s life. She generously gave her time and talents through numerous social and volunteer organizations, serving on PTA boards and as a Eucharistic minister at St. Catherine. Kay believed deeply in showing up for others, and she did so with grace, humility, and a warm smile.
When she wasn’t working or volunteering, Kay delighted in life’s simple pleasures—playing card games, shopping, enjoying long lunches with her daughters and cousins, taking long walks, traveling, and museum hopping. She had a gift for connection and laughter, and she made those around her feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
Kay will be remembered as a woman of faith, service, and boundless love—a devoted mother, grandmother, educator, and friend whose legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. Her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A Vigil Service with Rosary will be held for Kay on Thursday January 8th 2026 from 5pm-7pm at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton TX followed by the next day a Funeral Mass on Friday January 9th at 10:30am at St Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Carrollton.
