Donny Ray Reed Sr.

Donny Ray Reed, Sr., of Farmers Branch, Texas departed this life on August 29, 2025, at the age of 86. Born October 12, 1938, in Bowie County, Texas - Donny came from humble beginnings, yet through perseverance, grit, and tireless effort, he created a life rich with love, family and laughter.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Donny never sought recognition for himself, but those who knew him understood his quiet strength, quick humor and generous heart.

Football was his game, no doubt, but truth be told, he’d cheer on just about any Dallas team if they were playing.

The greatest blessing of his life was marrying his beloved Margie, with whom he shared 67 years of devotion, partnership and joy.

Donny was a loving husband to Margie Ann Reed, a treasured father to Donny Ray Reed, Jr. and Cynthia Ann Reed, and a proud grandfather to Andrew, Veronica, Vanessa, Ryan, Austin, and Miranda. His joy only deepened with the arrival of his great-grandchildren - Ryan, Alexis, Harrison, Ariella, Madison, Benjamin, McCoy, and Margot - each of whom brought light to his days.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, William Ryan Hurst.

Donny’s legacy is one of love, perseverance, and steadfast devotion to his family. He lived fully, worked hard, and left behind memories that will be cherished always.

Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit endures in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate to know him.
