Edward “Eddie” Oktanski December 24, 1932 - June 4, 2018

God took another Angel to Heaven, Edward “Eddie” Oktanski, on Monday, June 4, 2018, when we lost our beloved.

The past year and a half had been very hard on him both mentally and physically as he grew sick and weak after a series of strokes. Unfortunately, his life came to an end too soon and God now holds him in his hands. He was born on December 24, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois. He was 85 years old. He was the son of the late Joseph Oktanski and Apolonia “Pauline” (Straszynski) Oktanski.

He married Mariana (Cortez) Oktanski on July 4, 1959, and has celebrated 58 years of marriage. Eddie is preceded in death by his one sibling Bernice (Oktanski) Wojtecki, and brother-in-law; George Wojtecki.

Survivors include his daughters; Dawn (Oktanski) Neathawk of Carrollton.Texas, and her husband Allen Neathawk; and Cynthia (Oktanski) Mansolf of Hanover Park, Illinois, and her husband Scott Mansolf. His Grandchildren, who called him Jadji; Rebecca (Neathawk) (Robertson) Logan of Carrollton, Texas, and her husband Chris Logan; and Joseph Neathawk of Carrollton, Texas, as well as Christopher Mansolf of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Michelle (Mansolf) Czerwinski of Hanover Park, Illinois. His Great-Grandchildren Corbin Robertson and Caleb Robertson, as well as Jackson and Harper Mansolf.

You have touched so many hearts with your love and smiles. You will be sadly missed not only by family, but by your friends. We will hold many precious memories of you in our hearts forever.

Dawn I remember when we would go roller skating and hang out at your parents house in Hanover Park. I didn't know that you moved to Texas we lost touch.. I live in Hampshire Illinois with my husband Bob and our daughter Heather lives in Hanover Park with her husband and Vanessa my oldest is married also and is living around us with her two children . I have lost both my parents I was 19 and my dad passed away at the age of 62 and my mom live to be 90 and she died in 2012 I still cry especially for my mom we were very close so there are no words except I'm sorry for your loss. My husband Bob has had 2 Strokes the last one affected his vision but he is not blind it was in his brain it could have been much worse he still functions very well. I thought of you a lot of times over the years if life has been treating you well. I decided to look you up and just noticed that your father had passed away in June .

Mariana and Girls,
So sorry for your loss but I will always remember the great times we had playing Michigan Rummy with all of those pennies. Now Ed and Dan can start bickering again.

I remember meeting Ed when I was 16 yrs old when Dawn and I became friends and then a few years later she became my Sister-in- Law. I spent many hours at the Oktanski home in Hanover Park and have many good memories of those times.
My deepest sympathies go out to Marianne, Dawn and Cindy and the rest of the family during this difficult time!

No matter where I am
Your spirit will be beside me.
For I know that no matter what
You will always be with me.

I will always remember that warm and special smile of yours, and will forever have you in my heart.

I love you Dad.
