Dina was born February 8, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa to Frances and Verlin Benson. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and obtained her Master of Arts in Spanish from Illinois State University as well as additional teaching certifications for English and French.
Dina worked as a Spanish teacher for 40 years, beginning her career as a Spanish instructor at Clinton Community College and Clinton High School, before becoming Professor and Foreign Language Department Chair at Mount St. Claire College while focusing on Problems in Global Studies. Dina then moved to Dallas, Texas to teach at Ursuline Academy. Always expanding her mind, she became a Renewal & Wholeness Facilitator in Preparation; technology specialist, learned block scheduling, which eventually led her to becoming the registrar at Ursuline. After retiring from Ursuline, always one to keep busy, Dina joined the Pastoral department at Baylor, Scott and White as Administrative Assistant, Facilitator.
Dina is preceded in death by Frances and Verlin Benson and her nephew Paul and niece Jennifer.
Dina is survived by her siblings; George (Sharon), Edward (Edith), and Caroline Muhs (Lloyd), nieces and nephews; Shaun, Daniel, Alison, Steve, Felicia, Jason and Sarah, and long-time companion Peggy Sanders.
Dina’s Memorial Service is scheduled for March 9, 2024, at Signature Pointe 14645 Preston Road, Dallas, TX at 1:30 PM.
