For High School, Elena attended the University of the East, where she graduated as the Salutatorian of her class. She attended The University of Santo Tomas, where she received her Bachelors Degree. She took classes towards her Master’s degree in Medical Technology and also taught as well. She moved to the United States in 1977, where she was a Medical Technologist until 2013. Despite her busy schedule, Elena worked tirelessly to take care of her family and friends. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, travel, and was a remarkable cook.
She was known to be very generous and welcoming. She traveled to the Holy land on a pilgrimage, Fatima, Lourdes, Prague to see the Infant Jesus, Spain to visit the tomb of St. Teresa of Avila and Santiago de Compostela, and Italy to see Padre Pio. She was a devout Catholic and was an active member in Couples for Christ - Families for Life. She also supported the Legionaries of Christ and the Carmelite Nuns.
Elena is survived by her husband of 40 years, Godofredo “Ed” Pineda; her three children; Leslie Coloso, Edward Pineda, and Kristine “Elaine” Pana. She has three grandchildren; Lucas Coloso, Crisanta “Crissa” Coloso, Ethan Pana, and another one on the way. She is also survived by three sisters; Erlinda Mabul, Lolita Albano and Imelda Cunanan, who are also members of Couples for Christ – Families for Life.
Elena’s visitation will take place at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton, TX on Saturday, October 13th from 5:00-9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch, TX on Monday, October 15th at 10:00 am and will be followed by her burial ceremony at the Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. Her loved ones extend their deepest gratitude to friends and family for their kind words, prayers, and support during this difficult time.I
