Jeffrey Douglas "Tiger" Gaynier

He was born June 9, 1961 and passed away suddenly on June 10, 2019 at only 58 years old. Tiger was larger than life with his quick wit, sense of humor, and infectious laughter. Tiger graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and made life long friends that he still sees and talks to often. He studied ShinToshi and was a "Brown" Belt and to this day still had those moves if he was startled. His children knew to wake him they had to touch him and jump back because of the instinct from his ShinToshi training that still remained with him to this day. He had many passions in life including, but not limited to, family, Dallas Cowboys football, cooking and cars. He married the love of his life, Kathi, on October 19, 1985. Tiger and Kathi lived an incredible life together. They loved and cared for each other like no other. They had two sons, Andrew (who preceded him in death) and Adam Gaynier.

To know Tiger was to love Tiger. From his bartending days on Greenville Ave. at all the major bars in that day, to Nate's Seafood and Steakhouse as the Bar Manager/bartender in Addison where he made so many friends and had more fun than anyone should be allowed to have and becoming family to both Nate and Hilde. After the long and very rewarding stint at Nate's he moved on to restaurant management with Guckenheimer, Inc. He was the manager of the Café in the South Building on the TI Campus for 20 years. There he again made so many numerous friends and enjoyed talking and visiting with each and every one of them that happened to wander up to the café. His booming laugh and sense of humor drew people to him. His love for his family was unconditional and deep. Trying to describe someone like Tiger is almost impossible, as Tiger was TIGER! He loved life and lived it to the absolute fullest.

Tiger is survived by his wife, Kathi Gaynier; three sons, Adam Gaynier, Gary Wilson (Jessica), Brian Wilson (Codie); his daughter, Jennifer Barnes; two brothers, Dirck Gaynier and Charles Gaynier (Fonda); his sister Lisa Gaynier; six grandchildren, Ryker Gaynier, Cooper and Ethan Wilson, Zayne and Zander Barnes, and Bryson Gaynier; the daughter he claimed as his own, Brittany Perez, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tiger will be loved, missed and cherished by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and being part of his life.

Bill and I spent a lot of time with Tiger when he was bartending at Nate’s. We broke up there and made up there and even had our wedding reception there. He was always happy and could bring out the funny. Our prayers are with Kathi and all the family trusting in the comfort Tiger is at rest with the angels. 🙏🙏🙏

Awe, Tiger..... He was never boring and always had fun joking around or pulling pranks in school sometimes even on a teacher out two. I had the biggest crush on him and Buster Duckworth the first day I met them. Tiger's eyes so blue I was always afraid he'd catch me staring at him as I watched him laugh with one of his class mates. Although I haven't seen him in many years we picked up our friendship on Facebook. I had no idea it was his birthday when we last chatted and I invited him to our class reunion. I was blessed to know that he loved the Lord and that he has friends and family that made ready a place for him in heaven.
You'll be missed, my friend......
Always,
Trac

To the family of Jeff known as cousin Tiger. From reading the comments about Tiger I am blessed to know him better . What a spectacular dad, brother and friend to so many . He has entered the gates of Heaven joining other family members that have left us . A good reminder to all that this earthly home is not our eternal home and we will all travel through this journey .May we all be prepared to meet our Savior for in this temporary life we can prepare the way for our eternal home. Thinking and praying for all the Gayniers as you go through the loss of yet another brother . Love to all .. Martha Coe

I have so many memories of Tiger and his family, growing up on the same block as them. Going to their house meant being welcomed with laughter. We talked, we rode bikes, we took walks. He will always be remembered fondly from his neighbors on Carrizo Lane.

I was so sorry to hear about Jeff, even though I’ve been retired for 2yrs, I still remember that voice, his laugh & cracking jokes, he was always so nice if I was running late for lunch he would let me under the door at the cafeteria & sometimes give me a discount cause he was trying to close up & go home, I’m sure wherever he was working they are going to miss him. To the family you have my deepest condolences.
