Jerry P. James was born in El Dorado, Arkansas but grew up in Monahans, Texas. After graduating high school in 1957, he attended Texas Tech for one year and then joined the armed service. He honorably served in the U.S. Army for nine years where he met his sweetheart and love of his life. After leaving the Army, he worked for Beneficial Life for several years. Afterwards, he worked for Texas Instruments. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and did his graduate work there. He worked for Poco Graphite during this period as well. In the early 1980’s, Jerry became interested in numerical control programming for the aerospace industry. He was president of N/C Data and was a member and served on several N/C programming organizations. He contracted and worked for Northrup Grumman and Vought Aircraft. While on contract, he lived and worked in Tulsa, OK, Columbus, OH and Redondo, CA. He worked the last ten years with Triumph Aerostructures –Vought Aircraft Division in Arlington, TX where he was still employed at the time of his passing.
He loved electronics and was a Ham operator. He loved to read and do mind puzzles. He also enjoyed playing on-line games which was a great source of fun and relaxation. He was a member of Mensa. He had a soft spot for animals and birds and they for him. He loved keeping in touch with his friends and being with his family. He especially loved being Papa to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loving and kind man who generously gave to those in need. He is much loved and dearly missed.
