Jimmie graduated from Lewisville High School in 1949 before answering the call to serve his country. He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1951-1954 as a Boatswain's Mate during the Korean War. Following his military service he went to work for General Motors Parts Division, where he would retire after 30 years of dedicated work.
In 1956 Jimmie married Ima Lee Ragsdale, whom he met through a mutual friend. They were married for 61 years before Ima passed in 2017. They had two children together, Sharon, and Larry. Sadly, Larry passed away at a young age.
Jimmie was a man of simple pleasures who enjoyed bingo, gardening, watching football and baseball, game shows, classic western movies, as well as reading western books. Above all, Jimmie will be remembered as a kind, honest, hardworking man who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Jimmie is survived by his daughter Sharon Durham, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ima Durham; his son, Larry Durham; his sisters Ethyl Coker, Pauline Hasten, and Margaret Aaron; his brothers Harold Durham and RC Durham, and his parents Richard Clayton Durham and Cassie Wilbanks Durham.
